Herkimer – Mary M. Beran, 84, of Pullman Street, Herkimer, passed away on Sunday March 17, 2013 at Little Falls Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born July 27, 1928 in Herkimer the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (Burns) Keller and was educated in Herkimer schools.

Her marriage to Frank A. Beran took place on September 5, 1953 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. The couple shared a blessed union of 36 years until the passing of Frank on May 26, 1989.

At one time Mary was employed at the former Quackenbush Factory in Herkimer.

Mary’s life was centered around her children and grandchildren always putting their needs before hers. She was an avid New York Yankee and New York Giant’s fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Kapala and husband Richard of Little Falls; her son, Michael A. Beran of Herkimer; five grandchildren, Heather Steves and husband Ammon of St. Johnsville, Melissa Smith and husband Jason of Cameron, NC, Robert Kapala and companion Sarah Kahler of Little Falls, Brian Kapala and fiancé Heather Martindale of Anchorage, Alaska, and Laura Kapala and companion Rob Cooney of Holland Patent; five great grandchildren, Michael and Morgan Desmond and Nicolas, Vincent and Andrew Smith; in-laws, Daniel and Carolyn Beran of Ilion, and Norma Keller of Geneva Ohio, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Donald Keller on October 5, 1987 and a sister, Jessie Keller on June 23, 1996.

Funeral arrangements will be held on Thursday March 21, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home, 329 South Washington Street, Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday March 20, 2013 from 5-8 pm. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 South Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 866-1500. Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice.
