Herkimer - William J. (Bill) Wiliczka, 86 a life long Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 9, 2021 at St. Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford, NY with his devoted family by his side. 

He was born May 28, 1935, the son of the late Peter and Karolina (Kristoponis) Wiliczka and was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1953. 

On June 7, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to the former Angelina Cassella at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer.

Mr. Wiliczka was a United States Army veteran, enlisting on June 1, 1957 and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1963 with the rank of Sergeant.

Bill was employed as a Junior Engineer Technician for the State of New York. He retired in September 1993. After his retirement he was code's enforcer for the Town of Herkimer, Election Inspector and coordinator for Herkimer County District 3, and served on the building and grounds committee for St. Anthony's Church.   

He was a member of the Church of St. Anthony & Joseph and was a member of St. Anthony's Crusaders.  He served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister of his church. He was an active member of the Herkimer - Mohawk Knights of Columbus, the Tony R. George Post and past commander, served on the board at the Herkimer Housing Authority and was a volunteer for the Herkimer Food Pantry.  In his leisure, Bill was an avid bowler, card player especially pitch and a devoted Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orangemen fan.  He loved spending time with his family, going on family vacations, holiday gatherings and casino trips.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Angelina (Angie); a daughter, Denise Mabbett and husband Daniel of Mohawk; a son, Peter Wiliczka and wife Lynne of Herkimer; his cherished Grandchildren, Daniel Mabbett, Jr. and his significant other, Jena Mattie, David Mabbett and fiancée Justine Miller, Lauren Wiliczka and significant other Matt Fitzgerald and Michael Machold; nieces and nephews, Susan (Jim) Parese, Janet (Jack) Coneby and Tom (Vi) Plizek, Jr. 

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Pearl Plizek and a brother, Stanley Wiliczka.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday June 11, 2021 from 5 - 8 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank). 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A Memorial Mass will take place on Monday June 21, 2021 at 9:00 am at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main St., Herkimer, NY, with Rev. Terence Healy officiating and Deacon James Bower, assisting. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY with full military honors accorded. All memorial contributions may be made to either, the Herkimer Food Pantry, 431 N. Prospect St., Herkimer, NY 13350, Herkimer Humane Society, 514 State Route 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407 or to Friends of Herkimer County Historical Society, PO Box 703, Herkimer, NY 13350.
