Dolgeville – Virginia L. Shaftic, 75, of Dolgeville (Town of Oppenheim), passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY with her loving family by her side.
Virginia was born on January 13, 1948, in Morrisville, VT. The daughter of the late Alan and Virginia (Brice) Corwin, she was a graduate of Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, MA and attended Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, NY. For many years, she was also employed at Salada Foods in Little Falls, NY.
Married to Michael Shaftic on July 2, 1982, Virginia was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Much of her life was centered around her loved ones, always putting their needs first. She also had a deep love for sewing hand making beautiful gifts for friends and family throughout the years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, Michael; a son, Michael A. Shaftic and wife Jennifer; a daughter, Elizabeth Lyons and husband Joseph; a sister, Patricia Call, husband Terry, and daughter Kathryn; two grandchildren, Kassidy Lyons and Shayla Hall; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Alan Corwin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St. Herkimer, NY, with Reverend Presbyter Vasil Dubee rector of the Sts Peter & Paul's Orthodox Church officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the services at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to either the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
