Timothy B. Dockerty

Town of Oppenheim - Timothy B. Dockerty, 76, of St. Johnsville (Town of Oppenheim), passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Wynn Hospital, Utica, NY, with his devoted family by his side.

He was born on February 17, 1950, in Little Falls, NY, the son of the late C. Vincent and Virginia (Keough) Dockerty. Tim was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, Class of 1968. He furthered his education at SUNY Morrisville. For many years,

Tim was employed with the New York State Canal Corporation beginning in 1970. After his retirement in 2006, he took a short pause before he began work for his great friends at L.L. Embroidery in Johnstown, NY. He often worked many hours in his younger years at his father’s florist business, Dockerty Florist, where he enjoyed making “winner’s circle wreaths” for Fonda Speedway. Another job Tim held was a soccer referee where some games included refereeing his own stepdaughter Paulette's games.

Tim, affectionately known as “Doc,” “Doc-O,” or “The Doctor,” was a larger-than-life character with a booming voice, endless storytelling and impeccable dance skills. Tim’s life was centered around his family. His children were his pride and joy, and you could often be caught in a conversation for many hours about the two of them and their accomplishments. He especially loved traveling to his son, Timmy’s, and daughter, Amelia’s, many sports games throughout their lives. Later, he dedicated his time traveling to his grandsons’ many sports games where he beamed with pride. Tim was an occasional golfer who mostly enjoyed the quality time he spent with friends on the course. He loved to dedicate his spare time in helping his great friends with the Hoffman Racing Team at the Fox Shop hangout. In his younger years, Tim enjoyed hunting white tail deer with his hunting party group and playing in many softball tournaments during the spring/summer. You could often find “Doc” at his favorite “watering hole” at Ripepi’s Restaurant where he enjoyed watching the many Syracuse basketball games or a Yankee game surrounded by infinite friends. You could also find him playing cards (especially loved Pitch with his kids) with his friends from Little Falls area or hanging at the Elks Lodge watching a game. He also loved to dedicate time in the food booth during the St. Johnsville Fireman’s Fair where he would assist the late, dear friend, Donny Hoffman, at the grill. Tim would travel every winter to Glens Falls to watch the NYSPHSAA boys' championship basketball finals where he found great joy in volunteering during the event. Tim was of the Catholic faith and at one time, was a member of the Little Falls Elks Lodge Post # 42.

He is survived by his daughter, Amelia Breitmaier and husband Justin; his son, Timothy E. Dockerty and fiancé Danielle Scholato (and their pups-Murphy & Brodie); his grandchildren, Landon and Colton Breitmaier, Emma St. Louis, and Kyle Smith(wife, Mitzy); two step-daughters, Paulette Horan and husband Scott and Jodi Dolder and husband Dan; two brothers, Terence Dockerty and wife Lorrie and Arthur Dockerty and wife Lori, a sister-in-law, Sandra O’Dockerty, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Col. Michael A. O’Dockerty.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5 - 7 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. Dinner will be served afterward at 7:30pm at Ripepi’s Italian Restaurant at 7850 NY-5, St. Johnsville for anyone who would like to attend in his memory. Burial will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Johnsville Cemetery. All memorial contributions may be made to the Morris J. Edwards American Legion Post 168, 38 W. Main St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
