Thomas P. Mullie
May 31, 1965 - January 1, 2025
“The best view comes after the hardest climb”
Herkimer - Thomas P. Mullie, 59, of Herkimer passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
He was born on May 31, 1965, in Sodus, NY the son of the late Carroll and Thelma (Whipple) Mullie. Tom graduated from Williamson Senior High School and later attended Mater Dei College and SUNY Cobleskill.
Tom married his “perfect match” Lisa Bates on August 16, 1986, in Canton, NY. Their journey together was a long and winding road trip.
For over 30 years, Tom was employed at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in New Hartford as a histotechnician.
Tom had a strong faith and loved to share God with anyone who would listen. He loved his faith family at the Ilion Community Church and loved serving God to the best of his ability.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved camping and cooking outside. Before his more recent health challenges, he would enjoy traveling, spending time with friends on the golf course (even during a thunderstorm), fishing, helping friends with house renovations projects, enjoying a good campfire laughing and joking, teaching his kids and nieces how to drive. He truly had a huge impact on not only his close family and friends, but everyone he would come in contact with.
Tom was always there to make people laugh and smile, he would always be the first to crack a joke. He would always be there to lend a patient and thoughtful ear. No matter how much he was going through, Tom was always looking out for everyone else. He was one of the best humans that you could cross paths with. Tom was one of the best cheerleaders for his family and friends and a perfect example of kindness through all trials. His motto in life was “I won’t know until I try”.
Tom was very proud of his three children, Steven, Nathan and Alicia. Tom also took great joy in spending time playing with his grandkids, Katerina and Finley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Lisa of Herkimer; his children, Steven Mullie of Herkimer, Nathaniel (Brandi) Mullie of Milton, Florida and Alicia Mullie of Liverpool; his grandchildren, Katerina Lee and Finley Mullie and their mother, Cassandra Snyder of Frankfort; his siblings, Joan (Joseph) English and David (Genia) Mullie; and countless cousins, nieces and nephews who he was very proud of.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Carroll and Thelma; Step- mothers, Mary Jane and Hazel, his sister, Shirley and his brother John.
A celebration of Tom’s life will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Ilion Community Church (Central Plaza), Ilion, NY, with Reverend Dean Mabry, officiating. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
