Thomas Harrington Obituary

Herkimer - Thomas N. Harrington, 76, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, NY with his devoted family by his side.

Tom was born on November 11, 1947, in Prattsville, NY the son of the late Nelson and Marion (Colburn) Harrington. He was a graduate of Otego High School, class of 1967. Tom Attended Delhi Tech for Masonry.

On July 25, 1970, Tom was united in marriage to Susan Kauffman at the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta.

Mr. Harrington was a United States Navy veteran, enlisting on December 14, 1967, and was honorably discharged on April 30, 1968.

For 17 years, Tom was employed at the Herkimer Housing Authority in the Maintenance Department.

Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Herkimer and a 30-year member of the Herkimer Elks Lodge Post # 1439. In his leisure, Tom enjoyed participating and attending many local car shows.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Susan; a daughter, Jodi Ticen and husband Eric; a son, Stephen Harrington; four grandchildren, Andrew Harrington and his significant other, Brittani Chadeayne, Nicholas Harrington, Jacob Ticen and Lilyanna Ticen; two great grandsons, Grayson and Connor Harrington; two sisters, Dorothy Lingner and Kathy Marcellus; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Jerry Kauffman and Stanley Kauffman and wife Bonnie; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a special cousin, Barbara Horwald.

 

He was pre-deceased by his sister-in-law, Bertha Kauffman; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Lingner and Charlie Marcellus.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A prayer service will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. Joelle Faulks, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY with full military honors accorded. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or the Hospice and Palliative Care,4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
