Thomas H. Finehout

Thomas H. Finehout, 70, of Schenectady and a former Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY.

Tom was born on January 6, 1954, in Herkimer the son of the late Harry L. and Harriet J. (Dibble) Finehout. Tom was a graduate of Herkimer High School, later earning his associate degree from Mohawk Valley Community College.

Tom was gifted with an eye for detail. His talent in design and sales was last employed at Inserra Flooring Outlet in Marcy, NY.

Tom was a loving and caring father, brother and friend, who's life was centered around his family. Tom enjoyed travelling and was always ready to try a new dining experience. In his leisure, he found much tranquility in gardening and cooking.

Tom is survived by his children Justin (Jenna) Finehout and Jaime (Kyle) Romine; five grandchildren; the mother of Tom’s children Rosanne, all of Newark, Ohio; his sisters, Peg Streeter, Carol (Thomas) Baum, Elizabeth (Robert) West and Jan (Edward) Knapp; brother Timothy (Joan); sister and brother -in-laws Denise Olczyk and James Carlo Jr and their families; and several nieces and nephews.

Tom also leaves his companion of over 30 years, Gary Denault

A celebration of life at the convenience of his family will be held at Tom's favorite restaurant, Ventura's, where he was always made to feel like family.
