Thomas Catalina Obituary

Herkimer - Thomas (Tom) Catalina, 75, formerly of Mohawk, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Valley Health Nursing Home in Herkimer.

Thomas (Tom) Catalina was born on December 9, 1949, in Herkimer, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Boyer) Catalina. He was educated in the Mohawk Central School District.

Tom had a lifelong passion for history and aviation. He enjoyed reading books about historic aircraft and discussing world events. As a child, he even built his own toy model airplanes—a reflection of his early curiosity and creativity.

Above all, Tom was a devoted father, a beloved brother, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and whose lives were enriched by his kindness and quiet strength.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Catalina of Kentucky; and his brothers: Joseph Catalina (Patricia), Robert Catalina (JoAnn), Michael Catalina (Holly), James Catalina (Kim), and Johnny Catalina. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sister, Jane Jacquays, and his brother, Richard Catalina.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A prayer service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
