Fort Plain - Susan E. Calhoun, 81, of Fort Plain (Town of Minden), passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Mt. Valley Hospice, Gloversville, NY, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on May 7, 1944, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late George and Jenny (Memrick) Miller. Susan was a graduate of Oppenheim - Ephratah High School.
On October 12, 1963, Susan was united in marriage to Rowland (Ron) M. Calhoun Sr. at the United Methodist Church in Dolgeville. The couple shared a blessed union of 46 years until the passing of Ron on July 31, 2010.
Sue was last employed at the former Curtains & Fabrics in East Herkimer, NY. Prior to that she along with her husband Ron, owned and operated Ron & Sue’s Trucking in Fort Plain.
She is survived by two daughters, Shelly Crew and husband Rich, and Sheila Woodbeck and husband John; a son, Ronald Calhoun and wife Dawn; her grandchildren, Kyle Calhoun, Korie Calhoun, Brett Calhoun, Codi Calhoun, Ryan Calhoun, Dominick Calhoun, Salvatore Calhoun, Ben Crews, John Crews, and Alicia Bernier; several great grandchildren; a sister, Kim Shaut and husband Bob; five brothers, Leo Miller and wife Sally, David Miller, Ted Miller and wife Kathy, Kenny Miller and wife Melanie, and Chuck Colella; nieces, and nephews, and her canine companion, Maria.
She was pre-deceased by her son, David Calhoun; sisters, Audrey Miller, Rose Miller and Betty Darrow; brothers, William (Bill) Miller, Jim Miller, Charles (Bud) Miller and Donny Miller.
In keeping with Sue’s wishes, a graveside service will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY, in the spring of 2026, at a date and time to be announced. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge) 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
