Town of Oppenheim - Sherry Darlene Merwin of State Highway 29, Town of Oppenheim, received her angel wings on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the comfort of her home. A place she loved to be a mom, grandmother, wife and a substitute mom to all that she took under her wings.
She was born on January 14, 1954, in Stamford, NY the daughter of the late Carlton and Virginia (Clark) Moxham and was educated in Stamford schools. Sherry was a hard worker right up to her getting declining health issues.
She was married to Raymond J. Merwin, Sr. who preceded her in death on October 16, 2021.
Sherry loved to do crafts, canning and sewing. She was the happiest being a home maker and lending a helping hand to anyone that needed help.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle (Scott) Merwin; son, Raymond (Kristina) Merwin, Jr.; her grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel, Hunter, Morgan, and Jackson; her fur babies, Peanut and Pugger; her step grandchildren, Bethany and Thomas; siblings, Alfred Moxham, Sr., Scott Moxham Sr., Carleen (Amiel) Meyer and Suzanne (Roland) Swart. She is also survived by her in-laws, Katy Leavitt, Burton (Sonny) Merwin Jr., Shirley McGregor and Marion Tuckey and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Randall and Leonard Moxham and a half-brother Elton Aldrich.
A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to Oppenheim Volunteer Fire Department, 6786 State Highway 29, St Johnsville, NY 13452, Rockwood Caroga Lassellville Volunteer Fire Department, 4800 State Highway 29, Johnstown, New York, 12095 or Marathon for Life.
