Herkimer – Sandra L. Estey, 76 a long time Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Friday December 28, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

She was born October 31, 1942 in Herkimer the daughter of the late John and Anna Mae (Decker) Ward and was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1960.

She was last employed as a cook for the Mohawk Homestead, a job she enjoyed until her retirement.

Sandy was first and foremost a mom and grandmother, her family came first. She watched over her loved ones with unconditional love. She was delighted to cook up favorite dishes for her loved ones. Sandy had a special place in her heart for furry babies.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra and Christine of Herkimer and Kathleen of Ilion; her life long companion, Scander Astafan of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Cassandra Estey, William Delude, David Delude and Nicole Delude; a great granddaughter, Kylie Delude; two sisters, Donna Jones of Herkimer, and Bonnie Yatarola of Herkimer; a step-brother, Richard Frappier and wife Paula of Herkimer; several nieces and nephews, and her loving and devoted canine companion, Chance.

In keeping with Sandy’s wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany Street, Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500.
