Town of Herkimer - Rosanne M. Swift, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with the love and support of her family by her side.
She was born on September 13, 1951, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Caliguire) Barbuto. Rosanne was a graduate of Herkimer High School, Class of 1969. She attended Herkimer County Community College and SUNY Poly Tech where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
She was married to Donald Metz who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swift was last employed at Compassion Coalition in Frankfort, NY. Prior to that, she worked at the Folts Home Day Care Center in Herkimer, NY, for over 20 years.
Rosanne was a member of the Redeemer Church in Utica, NY.
Survivors include her three sons, Julian Collette and wife Lisa, Richard Swift and wife Julie, and Joseph Swift and wife Esther; four grandchildren, Jenna Swift, Rebecca Swift, Richard Swift, Jr., and Olivia Swift; two brothers, Francis Barbuto and Joseph Barbuto and wife Jenny; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Anthony Swift on May 11, 2024.
A celebration of Rosanne’s life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 pm at the Redeemer Church, 931 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY 13502. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets) 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
The family would like to thank all of Rosanne’s friends and relatives that took excellent care of her during her illness. A special thank you to Cathy Caliguire, Adele Caliguire, Martha Caliguire and Marilyn Zuk Brookman for always being there for her.
