Amsterdam - Ronald A. Potwin, 85, formerly of New Turnpike Road, Fort Plain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY with his loving family by his side.
He was born December 6, 1935 in Hartland, Vermont, the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Flanders) Potwin and was educated in Hartland, Vermont.
Mr. Potwin was a United States Air Force veteran.
On February 10, 1962, Ronald was united in marriage to Linda M. Neff in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
For many years, Ronald and his wife were dairy farmers in Glen, NY, then in the town of New Berlin, NY. Later on they moved to New Turnpike Road in Fort Plain. After his retirement from the farm, Ronald worked at Taylor Made in Johnstown, NY.
A man devoted to his family, Ronald's life was centered around the well being of his loved ones. An avid outdoorsman, He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially bike riding. In his leisure he enjoyed watching boxing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Linda; three daughters, Connie Rieder and husband Thomas, Ruth Julian and husband Thomas and Laura Hoffer and husband Todd; a sister, June (Joseph) Weston; 11 grandchildren, Alyssa Kreplin, Daniel Kreplin, Kevin Kreplin, Veronica Potwin, Stephanie McCrea; Nichole Hernigle; Christopher Hoffer, Joseph Hoffer, Amber Hoffer, Isabella Hoffer, and Nicholas Julian and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, John (Anita) Neff.
He was pre-deceased by a son, David Potwin; and his siblings. Eleanor, Lucille, Gerald, Milford, Vernon and George.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 12:00 noon from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Tuesday July 20, 2021 from 11:00 am until the time of the services at noon.
