Roger E. Chauncey, 89, most recently a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, NY, passed away quietly on December 4, 2023.
Roger was born in Endicott, NY to John R. and Pauline Chauncey.
After graduating from high school in Great Bend, PA, he studied Electrical Technology at Broome County Technical Institute. He was also in the Army Reserve. During his career he worked for several companies including Link Aviation, Univac, Mohawk Data Sciences, Cogar Corporation, and retired from Philips in Manlius, NY.
Roger was a past member of the Herkimer Polish Club and ELKS Little Falls, NY Lodge No. 42. He loved sports and was active in basketball, golf and softball.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; six children: Rita (Buddy) Guido, Roger (Joann) Chauncey, Ellen (Michael) Booth, Mary Sue (Daniel) Orcutt, Alyssa (Len) Brown, and Cathleen (Andrew) Gardner; sixteen grandchildren: Cecilia Guido; Kevin, Kayla and Brandon Chauncey; Bradley and Shannon Booth; Jaclyn and Jason (Gemma) Orcutt; Ryan (Maggie) Brown, Kelly (William) Patrick, Sean (fiancee Caroline Doherty) and Catie Brown; Daniel, Maggie (Ross Christiansen), Julia and Caroline Gardner; a sister, Marilyn Swavola, sister-in-law, Judy Chauncey and brother-in-law, Joseph Judge; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Paul Chauncey and John C. Chauncey; brother-in-law John Swavola, sisters-in-law Jean Chauncey and Margaret Judge.

In keeping with Roger's wishes, funeral services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Home, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
