Robert J. (Bob) DeCarr

Herkimer - Robert J. (Bob) DeCarr, 76, of the Town of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, with his devoted family by his side.

Bob was born on December 1, 1948, in Little Falls, the son of the late Robert J. and Mary (Ward) DeCarr.   Bob was a graduate of Herkimer High School, Class of 1967 and later earned his associate degree at Mohawk Valley Community College.

On August 30, 1969, he was united in marriage to Margaret Massaro at the former St. Joseph’s Church in Herkimer.

For over 27 years, Bob was employed at the former Remington Arms in Ilion, NY.

Mr. DeCarr was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus # 579 and also the organization’s financial secretary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret; a son, Frank DeCarr and wife Karen; a daughter, Catherine Maxwell and husband Bill; his grandchildren, Mitchell DeCarr, Carter DeCarr and fiancée Skylar, Shelby Rose DeCarr, Grady DeCarr, Madalyn DeCarr and fiancé Mitchell, Charlie DeCarr, Aliya (Anthony) Tarbania, Amber (Max) Bell, Cole Maxwell and Derek Maxwell; a great grandchild, Piper; four sisters, Julie DeCarr, Mary Kay Davis, Patricia DeCarr and Ann Smith; a brother, John DeCarr and wife Regina; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his sons, James (Scotty) DeCarr and Robert DeCarr; a brother, Joseph DeCarr, a daughter-in-law, Pamela DeCarr and two brothers-in-law, Jon Davis and Gary Spanfelner.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4- 6 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, North Bellinger St., Herkimer, NY with Reverend Justin Thomas, officiating. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer will take place in the spring of 2026.
