St. Johnsville – Regina Yuchniewicz, 97, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on April 3, 1928, in Nelliston, NY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence (Pickle) Luft. For many years, Regina was employed at the former Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, NY. She was married to Lewis Yuchniewicz, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Regina was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by a sister, Carleta Weaver, and two brothers, Garland and Kenneth Luft. Left to cherish her memory are her son, James (Linda) Yuchniewicz, and her three daughters, Wanda Zinski, Diane Schmidt, and Florence Jarvis, her three grandchildren, Ryan, Dana, and Christopher, her three great-grandchildren, Bobby, Levi, and Emmy; and several nieces and nephews. Regina loved to cook and tend her home and gardens. She also enjoyed going for rides and spending time at Pine Lake with her family.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Lisa Hubbard, her friend and hairdresser, Mel, and Rev. Ginny Ogden for her physical, emotional, and spiritual care during her time at the nursing home. A gravesite burial will take place at St. Johnsville Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
