Town of Danube - Raymond H. Shaut, Sr., 75, of Little Falls (Town of Danube), passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.
He was born on January 5, 1950, in the town of St. Johnsville, the son of the late Clifford Shaut and Florentena (Mosher) Darling. Ray was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School.
For many years, Ray was employed as a truck driver for Obreza Trucking in Mohawk, NY.
Ray life was devoted to his family. He enjoyed the quality time he spent with his children, grandchildren, siblings, and his two great grandsons who he absolutely adored. In his leisure, Ray was an avid outdoorsman, who found much enjoyment in hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his beloved children, Raymond H. Shaut Jr., Stacey Ortlieb and husband Richard, Chad Shaut, and Brittany Shaut and companion Rick Mergenthaler; five beloved grandchildren, Amanda Peets and husband Matthew, Andrew Ortlieb and wife Jazzlyn, Cayden Shaut, Kenidee Oare, and Hardin Mergenthaler; two beloved great grandsons Andrew Ortlieb Jr. and Jackson Ortlieb; two sisters, Roselea Winn and husband Keith and Sherry Ingelheim and husband Nathan; three brothers, Robert Shaut and wife Karen, Bernie Shaut, and Timothy Shaut and wife Dawn; in-laws, Don Dingman, Melinda Shaut, and Dawn Shaut; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Jane Dingman and Anna Darling, and brothers, Daniel, Clifford, David Shaut and Terry Darling.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.A prayer service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mark Hediger, pastor of Salisbury Community Church, officiating.
