St. Johnsville - Priscilla H. Swartz, 70, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY.
She was born on November 17, 1952, in Ilion, NY the daughter of the late George and Annabelle (Mang) Hazzard. Priscilla was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1970.
On September 5, 1975, Priscilla was united in marriage to Richard A. Swartz, Sr. at St. Paul's' Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 45 years until the passing of Richard on September 20, 2020.
Priscilla was last employed at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home where she worked in the Housekeeping Department and gift shop. At one time she worked at the former Palatine Dye Co. in St. Johnsville. She was also a former member of the St. Johnsville Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her sons, Stephen Swartz of St. Johnsville, and Shawn Swartz and wife Stacy of Nelliston; a step- son, Richard A. Swartz, Jr. and wife Tonya of Florida; four grandchildren, Joey McEwen and wife Juhana, Haley Day and husband Manny, Austin Swartz and Marina and Christopher Swartz and Dallis; her great grandchildren, Satcha, Samantha, Sabrina, Sadie, Joey, Jr., Sophia and Callum; sisters, Diane Beyer and husband David of Virginia and Rose Merkel of Illinois; brother; George Hazzard and wife Karen of Canajoharie; a brother in - law; Raymond Swartz of St. Johnsville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by a brother Dennis Hazzard in 1959, and a brother-in-law, William Merkel.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY from 11:00 am until the time of the services at 12:00 pm. A prayer service will follow at 12:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at West St. Johnsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions in Priscilla's name to The Foundation of St. Mary’s Healthcare, 427 Guy Park Avenue,
Amsterdam, NY, 12010 or to S.A.VA.C, 14 Washington St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
