Little Falls - Peter W. Rose, 91, of the Town of Danube, Little Falls passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Little Falls Hospital.
He was born on May 5, 1931, in Canajoharie, NY the son of the late Mame (Elmendorf) and Peter V. Rose. Peter graduated in 1950 from Canajoharie High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Albany.
Peter owned the former Rose's Restaurant and Grill located in Canajoharie, NY and was known for his great cooking.
In his earlier years, Peter was involved in competition speed boat racing and was a drummer in several local bands. He was also a Mason. Peter loved his family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and boating.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Pamela (Hopkins) Rose; his son, Peter F. (Valerie) Rose of St. Augustine, Florida; his daughter, Susannah Rose (Kenneth Ginter) of Little Falls; grandsons, Peter B. Rose, and Shane (Shelby) Rose of St. Augustine, Florida, and Grayson Hammond of Little Falls; his step-grandchildren, Cassandra Daley and Bryanna Hammond of Mayfield, NY and Landon and Lexi Ginter of Northville, NY; sister-in-law, Erin Dunckel of Ilion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a close friend Daniel (Andy) Tinkler. A special thanks to his aide, Anne McKeon for all of her help and kindness.
He was pre-deceased by his brother, Paul Rose, and a brother-in-law, Jeffrey Hopkins.
In keeping with Peter's wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
