St. Johnsville - Peter D. Battisti, 82, a lifelong St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Little Falls Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on April 26, 1943, in Little Falls, the son of the late Joseph W. and Voilet (Miller) Battisti. Peter was educated in St. Johnsville schools.
His marriage to Jane L. Harlow took place on April 27, 1963, at the former St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in St. Johnsville, NY.
For 20 years, Peter was employed with the Town of St. Johnsville Highway Department, where he held the position of Superintendent.
Mr. Battisti was of the catholic faith.
Pete was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always happy to help anyone in need, from simple projects to hauling scrap metal. He had many hobbies, including scrapping metal and years of tending to his junk yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, he was known for his crazy corkscrew swing. He enjoyed dedicating his time to being an auctioneer at local benefits.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jane; a daughter, Pamela Cool and husband Tom; five sons, Dale Battisti and wife Roberta, Dominic Battisti and wife Julie, Eric Battisti and fiancée Missy Baker, Peter Battisti and girlfriend Brandy Chromczak, and Joshua Battisti and wife Kristen, Tim Wells who was like another son to Pete and wife Lynn; four brothers, Joseph Battisti and wife Connie, Anthony Battisti and wife Patricia, Paul Battisti and wife Jeanne, and Dennis Battisti; his 11 cherished grandchildren, his 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by an infant son, Peter D. Battisti Jr, and a sister, Rose Shostek and husband, John.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1 - 4 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. A prayer service will follow at 4:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home, with Reverend Michael Torres, officiating.
All memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald Mc Donald House Charities of the Capital Region, 139 S. Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12208. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
