Fort Plain - Paul J. Tinka, 90, a long time Fort Plain resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 5, 2020 at the Palatine Nursing Home.
He was born August 6, 1930 in the Bronx, NY the son of the late John and Sue (Kertis) Tinka, Sr. and was educated locally. Paul along with his family moved to the Fort Plain area in 1948.
For 20 years, Paul was active in the Army National Guards retiring in 1984 with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
He was last employed at the former Beech- Nut in Canajoharie. At one time he worked at the former MDS in East Herkimer.
Mr. Tinka was a life long member of the Little Falls American Legion Post # 31.
Paul is survived by a brother, John Tinka, Jr. of Fort Plain and many friends.
He was pre-deceased by a Brother, Joseph Tinka in 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Friday December 11, 2020 at 12:00 noon from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday December 11, 2020 from 11:00 am until the time of the services at 12:00 noon. Due to the current COVID -19 restrictions, face mask and social distancing is required.
