Herkimer – Patricia A. Eckler, 81, a life long Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Monday December 28, 2020 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford, NY after a brief illness from cancer.
She was born April 27, 1939 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Atkinson) Doyle and was a graduate of Herkimer High School.
Her marriage to Richard V. Eckler took place on April 4, 1959 at the First United Methodist Church Parsonage in Herkimer. The couple shared a blessed union of 16 years until the untimely passing of Richard in 1975.
Mrs. Eckler was last employed at the Herkimer Motel. There she worked in the housekeeping department and met her friend Eileen Looman and they remained best friends for the last 30 years.
Pat was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her happiest times were when she was with her devoted family. A kind hearted woman, Pat had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved pets.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Scott and husband Richard of Frankfort; a son, Dale Eckler and wife Holly of Salisbury Center; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Michael R. Eckler on October 20, 2014; her sisters, Julia Johnson, Elizabeth Wells, Mildred Doyle, Frances Doyle, Sylvia Barringer; her brothers, Ed, Herman, Joseph, and Richard Doyle.
Friends and relatives may call at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500, on Saturday January 2, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Graveside services will take place in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Due to the current COVID - 19 restrictions, facemask and social distancing is required.
