Frankfort - Nora C. Kornbrust, 68, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital, Utica, NY with her loving family by her side.
She was born on June 1, 1956, in Herkimer, NY the daughter of the late James and Shirley (Wildey) Piper. Nora was a graduate of Herkimer High School and furthered her education during her employment at St. Elizabeth's Hospital obtaining certifications in Histology which provided her with a long career in the Pathology department there. Although the majority of Nora’s career was as a Histologist at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica, NY, following her retirement she also did some part time work for her cousin Mary caring for the elderly in their homes.
She was married to George Kornbrust on July 28, 1980, and they enjoyed the last 44 years together.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, George; her daughter, Kathryn Tulloch and husband Gideon Tulloch of Ilion, her grandchildren who knew her as Mima, Luke Tulloch and girlfriend Carolann Eysaman of Wilmington, NC and Gracie Tulloch of Ilion; her sisters, Karol Anderson and husband Steve Anderson of Herkimer, Amanda Viscomi and husband Anthony (Chipper) Viscomi of Herkimer, Paula Dygert and husband John Dygert of East Herkimer and brother Jay Piper and wife Tara Piper of Herkimer. Her nieces, nephews; Sara Salamone, Ashley Hawkins, Anthony, Armand and Adrian Viscomi, Alex and Micheline Dygert and Jordan, James and Justin Piper. Her good friends/cousin Mary Tubia and Linda Puleo.
She was pre-deceased by her son George James Kornbrust in 1987 and her good friends Bonnie Domina, Virginia (Ginger) DeForrest and Albert DeForrest.
Anyone who knew Nora understood what a kind soul she was and beautiful inside and out. She adored her grandchildren and siblings and loved spending time with them. She liked to cook and have cookouts poolside. She loved music and liked to and was pretty good at singing. She was a strong democrat and enjoyed following politics. Not a Trump fan. She loved her pets and had a deep love of animals. She was an active member of the ASPCA and regularly donated to the local animal shelters. She nominated her son in law Gideon as her “hero” which became an ongoing joke in the family.
