Neil Goven Obituary

 

Nelliston - Neil S. Goven, 71, of Nelliston, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY with family by his side.

 He was born on January 16, 1951, in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of the late Henry Eli and Mabel E. (Hemingway) Goven.  Neil was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Champlain, NY. Mr. Goven was employed at the former Callaway Golf in Johnstown until his retirement.

 Neil was united in marriage to Dawn R. DeLong on September 3, 1977. He married his best friend and was a loving devoted husband for 45 years.

 Neil was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Canajoharie.  Neil donated faithfully to the St. Jude’s Foundation. Neil spent time watching NASCAR and the NFL games on tv and enjoyed the company of his two good friends, Francis Jones (Jonesy) and Ray Williams.  

 Survivors include his loving wife, Dawn; two daughters, Michelle Sitterly and husband Kevin and Amanda Buley and husband Jeromie; a brother, Robert Govin; four grandchildren, Anthony Masi, Isabella Masi, Isaac Tamsett and Jonah Buley as well as many nieces and nephews.

 He was pre-deceased by his sisters Carol Mossey and June Bottner. 

In keeping with Neil's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
