Mansfield, Massachusetts - Michael T. Longacre, 79, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, and a former Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, Massachusetts, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on November 14, 1945, in Little Falls, the son of the late Terrence and Mary (Bannon) Longacre. Mike was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1963.
On December 28, 1965, Mike was united in marriage to Barbara Becker at the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls.
Mike was a United States Navy veteran, enlisting on January 20, 1964, and was honorably discharged on December 22, 1967, with the rank of Torpedoman’s Mate Petty Officer Third Class.
Mike spent his career in Sales and Marketing in the Printing Industry retiring from Harold M Pitman Company. After his first retirement he spent time at various jobs, finally retiring from Quality Vans and Specialty Vehicles in Norton, Massachusetts.
Mike was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, who always put the needs and concerns of his family first. He enjoyed traveling to New York several times a year to visit with family and friends. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fly fishing but very early on he found his true passion for golf as a member of both Norton and Fall River Country Clubs. Mike was a fan of the NY Giants, Notre Dame, and NASCAR. In fact, growing up in the Longacre house if you didn’t root for the Giants and Notre Dame, you would be in trouble. He was also a former NE Patriots season ticket holder, and member of The Norton VFW, Little Falls American Legion, and Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara; his daughter, Michele Dugdale; two sons, David Longacre (Wife Betty), and Michael Longacre; his grandchildren, Devin Weimer, Terry Dugdale, Alex Longacre and Chris Longacre; a great grandson, Robert Weimer; sisters- in- law, Janet Johnston, Karen Becker, Pat Becker (Partner Bill), and Pam Becker (Husband John); and several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Sophie Becker; son- in-law, Robert Dugdale; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Johnston and Edward Becker.
The family would like to thank the medical teams at the West Roxbury VA Hospital, Sturdy Memorial Hospital, and Mansfield EMS for their compassionate care.
