Mrs. Maryanne Mamrosch, 70, of 2785 State Rt. 29 Dolgeville, (Town of Salisbury), died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Siegenthaler Center, Hospice & Palliative Care, shortly after being admitted. Previously she had the loving care at home by her husband, Edmund and her special friends.
Maryanne was born in Little Falls, on October 16, 1951, the daughter of Michael and Anne (Maliniak) Sokerka and was educated in local schools and continued her education by receiving a BS degree in elementary education from Oswego College and her master's degree from SUNY.
Maryanne began her teaching career at West Canada Valley Central School and retired from there with 34 years of service. Her career touched many students lives, neighbors and many referred to her as "Aunt Mar".
She was united in marriage to Edmund Mamrosch on September 23, 1978, in St. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in East Herkimer.
Maryanne will be remembered as an avid collector of donations, for the annual Heart Run and Walk, volunteering and substituting at the school, along with her gardening skills for vegetables and plants. She also enjoyed walking with her beagles and snowmobiling. She was a faithful member of the Russian Orthodox Church.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years Edmund, brother John (Liz) Sokerka of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., a brother-in-law Richard Long of Little Falls, a niece, Tiffany (Tim) Johnson of Little Falls, nephews Chris (Holli) Long of Chittenango, Jeff Osley of Mohawk, Paul (Katie) Sokerka of Oregon, and David Sokerka of Florida. Several great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Michael & Anne Sokerka, a sister Michele Long and a brother Paul Sokerka.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 14, 2021, at 11AM at St. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church East Herkimer with Father Vasil Dubee officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, December 13, 2021, from 4-6 PM at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany Street, Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500. A Parastas service will be at 5:45 PM at the conclusion of calling hours.
