Mary Louise (Servadio) Paestella

Herkimer - Mary Louise Paestella, 76, of Herkimer passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Little Falls Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born on November 11, 1947, in Herkimer the daughter of the late Louis and Louise (Frechette) Servadio. Mary Lou was a graduate of Herkimer High School and earned her associates degree from SUNY Cobleskill.

On September 14, 1968, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Michael Paestella at St. Anthony’s Church in Herkimer.  Mary Lou was devoted to her faith and taught her family about love, appreciating what we had in life, the value of a good friend, and helping others.

At one time Mary Lou was employed as a secretary in the Business Office of the Herkimer County Community College.  Mary Lou was active as a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Pack and was Cookie Chair for her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop. She was a lover of animals and made sure Snoopy and Teddy, her beloved pups, were members of the family. 

Survivors inlcude her loving husband of 55 years, Michael; a son, Michael J. Paestella, and wife Melissa; a daughter, Maria Cyr, and husband Ryan; four grandchildren, Michael L. Paestella, Brayden Cyr, Addison Cyr, and Landon Cyr; a sister, Theresa Maury; and several nieces and nephews.  Family meant everything to Mary Lou and the lessons she shared with her children and grandchildren about making a difference will continue to positively influence others through them. 

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 5- 7 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 10:30 am at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main St., Herkimer, NY with Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contribution to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
