Mary Blair Obituary

Mary (Heneghan) Blair, 92, of Esperance NY, passed away peacefully June 25th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born May 6th, 1933, in Streamstown, Ireland to Patrick and Anne (Davis) Heneghan and attended school in Cloonfad, Ireland. Mary grew up on a farm as the oldest of three girls. After the loss of her father at a young age, Mary took on the responsibility of running the farm and providing for her mother and two younger sisters, Margaret and Bridget. At the age of 17, Mary moved to America to help support her family back home and got a job in NYC.

While in NYC, Mary met her husband John Blair and they married October 19th,1956, at The Good Shepard Church in NYC. Later they welcomed 10 children together. Mary went on to work in many local industries such as Life Savers which she proudly bragged about for years. In retirement, she began volunteering her time at Jim's Irish Harbor, a well-known pub enjoyed by many and owned by her son James.

Mary had made many accomplishments in her lifetime but was most proud of her family. She enjoyed hosting family meals, bragging about her grandkids, and going out for “just two” ginger brandies. In addition, Mary was a faithful member at Our Lady of Hope Church in Fort Plain, New York.

Survivors include her children, Jack (Barbara) Blair of Punta Gorda FL, Sherry (DIL) Blair of Ames NY, Mary (Glenn) Damin of St. Johnsville NY, James Blair of Esperance, Michael (Nancy) of Oneonta NY, Ann (Michael) Biittig of Averill Park NY, Daniel (Rachel) Blair of Citrus Springs FL, Patricia (Svend) Christensen of St. Johnsville NY. Kevin (Jennifer) Blair of St. Johnsville NY, Brendan Blair of Syracuse NY.

21 grandkids, 9 great grandkids, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

We would like to thank Louise Robusto for all of the love and support she provided in the past six months.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Jack Blair, her son Patrick Blair, her sisters, Bridget Hamilton and Margaret Brennan.
