Mardis Bowers Obituary

 

Town of Hope – Mardis Bowers, 103, passed away on September 20, 2021 at her daughter’s home in the town of Hope.

She was born February 14, 1918, daughter of Eugene and Maud Mosher. She was a graduate of St. Johnsville Central School and furthered her education at CCBI in Syracuse with a degree in Accounting. 

On February 6, 1943, she was married to G. Edson Bowers beginning their 51 years together. They raised a family on a dairy farm named “Bowterra” on Crum creek road in St. Johnsville. 

Upon retirement the couple moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida where they enjoyed many activities with friends. Mardis considered herself abundantly blessed!

She leaves behind two daughters, Bonnie (Wayne) Stowell of St. Johnsville and Beth Ryan of the Town of Hope; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends from New York to Florida.

She was pre-deceased by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Sandi Bowers, grandson, Brett Bowers, and a granddaughter, Tawyna Eckler. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 25, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the Crum Creek Church, with Reverend David Johnson, officiating.  Burial will follow at West St. Johnsville Cemetery. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Crum Creek Church on Saturday September 25, 2021 from 11:00 am until the time of the services at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040. All memorial contribution made be made to either, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 5 Monroe St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452, Crum Creek Church, c/o 43 Walnut St., Canajoharie, NY 13317 or to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele St., Gloversville, NY 12078. Envelopes will be available at the church.
