St. Johnsville – Lois E. Thomas, 94, a life long St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 30, 2020 with her loving family by her side.

She was born June 15, 1926 in St. Johnsville the daughter of the late Ernest and Susan (Weaver) Dodson. Lois was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1944.

She was married to George F. Thomas at the home of her parents in St. Johnsville. Mr. Thomas passed away on December 20, 1974.

Lois was last employed at Little Falls Footwear in St. Johnsville, where she held the position of Supervisor. At one time she worked at the former Palatine Dye Co. in St, Johnsville and at Gold Mills Dye Finishing Co. in Pine Grove, PA.

She was a member of the Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville and a member of the St. Johnsville Business Girls.

As matriarch of her family, Lois' life was centered around her loved ones. She enjoyed tending to their needs and cherished the quality time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved to do arts and crafts especially sewing and making greeting cards. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, participating in several leagues.

Survivors include her daughter, Lois S. Thomas of St. Johnsville; three sons, Bruce Thomas and wife Cathy of Remsen, NY, George E. Thomas and wife Margaret of St. Johnsville, and James D. Thomas and wife Dorothy of St. Johnsville; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews

She was pre-deceased by her grandson, Michael Thomas in 1990; her fiancé, Sherman Rockwell, sisters, Helen Shults and Rose Elizabeth (Betty) Kramer; her brothers, Ernest Dodson, Harold Dodson, Gerwood (Whitey) Dodson, and James Dodson.

In keeping with COVID -19 restrictions, the funeral services and burial at St. Johnsville Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, 518-568-7040. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to the St. Johnsville American Legion, Morris J. Edwards Post #168, 38 W. Main St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
