Lois I. (Brown) Oldfield

Herkimer - Lois I. Oldfield, 94, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, NY, with her family by her side.

Lois was born on September 13, 1930, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Metz) Brown. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1948.

On June 21, 1952, Lois was united in marriage to Alfred G. (Gootch)  Oldfield at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 55 years until the passing of Alfred on January 1, 2008.

Lois was employed at the former Munger’s Department Store in Herkimer, where she worked in the Billing Department for many years. She later worked at the former Herkimer Wood Products and the former Oats Gym in Herkimer.

Lois was a long-time parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church.  She was a member of the Herkimer Senior Citizens and Lady Elks. She was a loving mother to her six children, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Kerry Oldfield and wife Angeline, Sherry Cunningham and husband Jed, Debra Hall and husband Randy, Darlene Oldfield and spouse Lani Schramm and Randy Oldfield and wife Sandy, and daughter-In-law Pamela Oldfield; her grandchildren: Kerry Oldfield and wife Melissa, Martha Oldfield-Maser and  husband Seth,  Laura Oldfield, Tara Oldfield,  Terrence Oldfield and wife Julia,  Brett Hall and wife Marissa, Matt Hall, Michael Cunningham and wife Lauren, Brandon, Alexis, and Aleah Oldfield; three great-grandchildren: Emelia Oldfield, Desmond Oldfield-Maser and Bryce Cunningham.  She is also survived by brother James Lynch and wife Joy of Florida and sisters-in-law Rosemarie Brown and Beverly Brown and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by an infant son, Alfred G. Oldfield, Jr., son Terrence (Murph) Oldfield; sisters, Jeanne Servadio and Marilyn Garraty; and brothers, Edward Brown, Jr., Robert Brown and Richard Brown.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Alfred.
