Lois Cristman Obituary

Herkimer – Lois “Ninnie” J. Cristman, 91, a lifelong resident of East Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Valley Health Services, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on May 6, 1931, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Santora) Miller and was educated in Herkimer schools.

On November 1, 1952, Lois was united in marriage to William G. Cristman.  They shared a loving and devoted union for 42 years, until his passing on December 14, 1994.

Mrs. Cristman was employed at Herkimer Hospital for many years and when they closed, she began her employment with Valley Health Services in the Housekeeping Department, retiring in February 2002.

Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Her grandchildren fondly remember the many days she spent caring for them.  Always taking them to the playground, on fun trips, and the many delicious meals and snacks she prepared for them.  She also enjoyed playing bingo, reading, cooking, and her many trips to the casino with her daughters.  She will be truly missed by all.

Survivors include her daughters, Pamela Putch and husband John of Herkimer, Cathy Lowell and husband Albert of Herkimer; her sons, Michael Cristman and wife Cheryl of Herkimer, and Patrick Cristman and wife Denise of Herkimer; her cherished grandchildren, Justin Cristman and wife Cassandra, Shawn Putch and wife Corine, Mallory Morgan and husband Jake, Erica Putch, and Katelyn Lowell; great grandchildren, Benjamin Morgan, Grant and Leanne Cristman; her sister-in-law Betty Miller and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her grandson, Benjamin P. Cristman on January 4, 2014, her sisters, Delia Everson, Nora Holke, Katherine Baker, and her brothers George, Ervin, and Paul Miller.

In keeping with Lois’s wishes funeral services and burial at Oak Hill Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500.

The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care that Lois received from the nurses and staff at Valley Health Services.  And a special thank you to her roommate Elle Foster for all the love she shared with our mom.  They had a special bond that no one could replace.

Memorial donations can be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 State Route 5s, Mohawk, NY 13407.  Grandma always enjoyed her special visits with all her fur grandchildren.
