Lois Gene Rockefeller Battisti, 97 years old, born on May 5, 1926, died at home June 21 of natural causes. She was the daughter of John Melvin Rockefeller and Martha Jennie Mosher Rockefeller. She graduated a home careers major from Saint Johnsville High School.
Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Aunt Lois, and Grandma B to many, she loved the outdoors and spent as much time as she could in the sun tending her flowers. A great lover of her animals, she used her gifts with 4-Hers, helping children grow in respect for the world we live in. Like her mother before her, she is well known for her baking talents, especially her pies. Through the years she served as a Sunday School teacher and for over 20 years superintendent. She was a teacher's-aide at the Little Sunbeams Nursery School, taught knitting and crocheting to neighborhood girls, waited tables and hostess served at a number of valley restaurants, was a 4-H leader, sang with the Valley Choralaires, performed in St.John’s Theatre Group, conducted at Burton Moyer’s accordion recitals, helped with music at Lorraine Crocker’s dance recitals, and so much more.
On December 22, 1946, Lois married Egidio Francis Battisti in the Grace Congregational Church. They had three daughters and together enjoyed 54 years of married life. Today she leaves behind her daughters Diane (Charles) Wagar, Darlene (Matthew) Pollak, and DonnaLee (David) Battisti-Waters, her grandchildren Tina Bode, Jennifer Smith, Heather Potts, Paula Saint-Vil, Donavin Auld, Derrick Waters, Devin Waters, Jessica Pollak de Rios, Rachael Pollak, and 13 great-grandchildren. Because she opened her heart and home to so many, she also leaves behind others who were nurtured by her kindness, especially Lywall Salles, Wolfgang and Rheiner Dinges, and Tom Flanders.
She was predeceased by her husband Egidio, her brothers Gordon, David, George, Leslie, Raymond, and her sister Beverly Puznowski, and her granddaughter Sarah Pollak.
