St. Johnsville - Leonora A. Gutowski, 96, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born on May 19, 1928, in Little Falls the daughter of the late Paul and Carmela (Romano) Cacciotto. Leonora was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1945.
On October 25, 1953, Leonora was united in marriage to William J. Gutowski, at St. Patrick's Church in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of 54 years until the passing of William on October 27, 2007.
For 50 years, Leonora was employed at Gehring Tricot in Dolgeville, NY and at one time she worked at the former Tricot Fabric in St. Johnsville.
Mrs. Gutowski was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church in Fort Plain and was a member of the former St. Patrick's Rosary Society.
Survivors include her sons, Paul Gutowski and wife Mary of St. Johnsville and David Gutowski and wife Diane of Little Falls; grandchildren, Eric Gutowski and wife Amber, Kristin Smith, and Alicia Downs and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Natalia & Rieley Downs, Paige & Connor Lochner and Karson Gutowski; and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a sister, Yolanda Perry.
The family will be receiving family and friends on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm at the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, NY. Burial will follow at St. Johnsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to either St. Jude's Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 119 Reid St., Fort Plain, NY 13339. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
