Lauren Cole Obituary

 

Herkimer - Lauren E. Cole, 97, of Herkimer, formerly of Waterloo passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his daughter’s home with his devoted family by his side.

 He was born March 16, 1924 in Syracuse, NY the son of the late Carl E. and Helen (Stafford) Cole and graduated from Geneva, NY schools.

 Mr. Cole was a United States Navy veteran, enlisting on February 4, 1943 and was honorably discharged on May 10, 1954 with the rank of CSG 1. He served his county during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

 Lauren’s life was centered around his devoted family, proving himself a loving and caring father and grandfather. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and many friends.

 Survivors include two daughters, Donna Cole of Florida and Nancy Saunders and husband Brad of Herkimer; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a sister Phyllis Hargrove; and many nieces & nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife Beverly (Ward) Cole, brothers William and Floyd Cole, and later his companion Ethel DeCook.

In keeping with the Lauren's wishes, funeral services and burial at Sampson Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Romulus, NY with be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
