LaVerne Bacher

Herkimer – LaVerne Bacher, 86, of Herkimer passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the FoltsBrook Center, Herkimer, NY with his devoted wife Kathryn by his side.

He was born on June 11, 1937, in Little Falls to Thelma Bacher. He attended Little Falls Schools.

Vern retired from Great American Food Store, after 42-year career in food service.

He was united in marriage to Kathryn A. McGarl on January 6, 1962, and they shared 61 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn; three sons, Jeffrey and Debbie, Mark and Lin, and Paul and Amy; his grandchildren and cousins.

There are no calling hours, and the burial services will be held at a later date at Armory Cemetery, Ilion, NY. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of FoltsBrook Center for their wonderful and compassionate care LaVerne received while he was there and also to Vincent Enea and Mike Beran of the Vincent Enea Funeral Service for their caring and compassion during this difficult time.
