Herkimer - Kirk M Rando 64 a lifelong Herkimer resident, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford New York. 

He was born March 9, 1956 in Herkimer, the son of the late Robert E and Francis (Casale)Rando. Kirk was a graduate of Herkimer High School class of 1974 and also attended Utica College, where he played baseball.

On July 24, 1976 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Cissy) Wellington at St. Francis DeSales Church in Herkimer by Reverend Peter Nabozny. 

Kirk worked at Remington Arms for over 25 years before he retired, he was also employed for the Herkimer County Sheriffs department during that time. Lastly he worked for over 12 years at the Herkimer Housing Authority, a job he truly enjoyed and met so many wonderful people. He retired from there in 2019 due to health issues. 

Kirk was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Herkimer VFW and the local Teamsters union. 

A man devoted to his family, Kirks life was centered around his loved ones. He enjoyed the quality time he spent with his family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, Kirk loved camping with his family, going fishing, playing corn hole and washers. In his leisure he also found much satisfaction in woodworking. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Elizabeth (Cissy), a son John Rando and Samantha Elthorp of Herkimer, a daughter Margaret Maass and husband Michael of Herkimer, his cherished grandchildren Douglas Rando of Marcy, Makaila Maass, Emma Rando and Isabella Maass all of Herkimer. His siblings Robert Rando and Barb Weber of Herkimer, Maryann Rando of Herkimer, Ken Rando and his wife Gina of Remsen, Jim Rando and his wife Lori of Mohawk, Steve Rando and Bonnie Shaw of Herkimer, George Rando and Steve of Pennsylvania, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is also survived by many in-laws including Ralph and Anna Wellington, John (Butch)Wellington and Suzanne Comins, Bridget and Brad Riesel, David Wellington, Charles (Sonny) and Tracy Culver. Along with his beloved canine companion Chance. 

He was pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Frances Rando, brother Michael Rando, and sister, Linda Sudakow. 

A memorial service will take place on Sunday May 16, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY, 315-866-1500. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday May 16, 2021 from 11:00 am until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers please send any cards or donations may be sent to his wife Elizabeth Rando, 350 Eureka Ave., Herkimer, NY 13350. These will be used towards all medical bills that were incurred.
