Kathie (VanDerwerker) Sartin

Mayfield - Kathie Sartin, 78, of Jackson Summit Road, Mayfield, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with her family by her side.

She was born on April 3, 1946, in Cooperstown, NY the daughter of the late Warren (Buster) and Julia Ford Heald VanDerwerker. Kathie was a graduate of Mayfield High School and furthered her education at Fulton Montgomery Community College.

She was married to Walter J. Sartin on November 11, 1968, in Cherry Valley, NY. Mr. Sartin passed away in 1986.

Kathie was last employed at Fulton County Department of Social Services in Johnstown, NY.

Kathie was a loving a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the quality time she spent with her family. A matriarch of her family she always put the needs and concerns of her family and extended family first.

Survivors include her daughter, Traci Sartin and fiancé Mark Hickey of St. Johnsville; three grandchildren, Julieanna Hickey, Hunter Hickey and Kaylea Hickey; a great grandson, Jaxson Garneau; and a nephew, Mark VanDerwerker of Virginia, two great nephews and a great niece.

She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Robert VanDerwerker and James VanDerwerker and wife Vivian (her favorite sister-in-law) and niece, Leslie Poyfair Seilgman.

In keeping with Kathie's wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
