Herkimer - Judith (Judy) A. Burke, 67, of the Town of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at her home.

She was born March 19, 1954, the daughter of the late Gerald and Joanna (Olsen) Hamberger. Judy was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1972.

Her marriage to William I. Burke took place on September 2, 1988, in Clinton, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 26 years until the passing of Bill on June 2, 2014.

For many years, Judy was employed for Herkimer County as a Purchasing Agent. After her retirement from the county, she was a school bus monitor on a special needs bus for The Herkimer School District.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Heather K. Burke of Ilion NY; and one son, Thomas J. Brown of Herkimer NY.  Three sisters. Two special cousins. Paul (Mary) Townsend of Ilion; Steven (Judy) Horvath of Utica and her godmother: her Aunt Carol Horvath of Utica.

Judy was a collector of lighthouses, and anything snowmen, especially Olaf.  She could be found traveling to places like the picturesque Maine coastline or exploring the tropics on cruises with friends and family as one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed spending summers in Alex Bay or floating in her pool while working on her tan. You could also spot her reading a Danielle Steel book in her spare time or crafting things out of plastic canvas as well as crocheting blankets. In her earlier years, Judy enjoyed participating in a bowling league and was active in MOVAC.

Judy was a well-known member of the community and highly active in The Herkimer Girl Scout Unit as a service manager for several years.  She was a leader for many girls and a great mentor. Community activities that she organized for the girls involved, adopting a child at Christmas, shopping for families at Thanksgiving, caroling at local nursing homes and many other special activities.

Judy was a special lady with a big heart and an infectious smile. She touched many people with the warmth of her spirit.
