Obituary

St. Johnsville - Joyce A. Schoff, 80, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Albany Medical Center.

She was born on December 15, 1942, in Little Falls the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Edick) Chamberlain. Joyce was a graduate of Fort Plain High School.

On June 30, 1962, Joyce was united in marriage to Donald H. Schoff at the former St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain. The couple shared a blessed union of 59 years until the passing of Donald on October 8, 2021.

For many years, Joyce worked on the Board of Elections for Montgomery County. In her earlier years, she was employed at Parkside Drive-In where she enjoyed her connection with the customers.

Joyce was an avid reader and spent many years on the Margaret Rainey Memorial Library Board. She loved cooking and spending time with family. She was a doting mother and grandmother and as a young adult was a mentor and second mother to children in the community. 

Joyce was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society, TJ Business Girls, and the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed afternoons with her special friends playing cards. When not playing cards, Joyce enjoyed watching the New York Yankees (especially Aaron Judge) and Syracuse Basketball.  

Survivors include her children, Richard Schoff and wife Deborah of Ilion, Lisa Occhipinti and husband Jeff of North Carolina, Donald H. Schoff, Jr. of St. Johnsville  and Jeff Crouse and his wife Darla of Van Hornesville: her grandchildren, Jacob, Claire, Grace, Faith, Ryan and Brittany; two sisters, Betty Weller and husband Dick and Sue Hogeboom, her sister-in-law Deb Chamberlain; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lou Barton and two brothers, Frank Chamberlain and Ed Chamberlain.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY. A memorial prayer service will follow on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at12:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, (next to NBT Bank), Main St., St. Johnsville, NY with Reverend David Johnson, Pastor. officiating. Burial will process to West St. Johnsville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Donald.
