Joseph J. Kroll

Mohawk – Joseph J. Kroll, 83, of Mohawk, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.

 He was born on May 4, 1938, in Cullen, NY the son of the late John Kroll and Stella (Kosmoski) Kroll Dekanek.  Joe was a graduate of Mohawk High School, class of 1957.

 Joe was owner and operator of the former Kroll Construction in Mohawk, NY. At one time he was employed at Remington arms in Ilion, NY.

 Joe was a hardworking and dedicated man. He has a strong work ethic and took much pride in the job and was not happy until it was completed perfectly. His life was centered around his family and especially his grandchildren.

 He is survived by his son, John Kroll and wife Christine (Prestopnik) of Mohawk. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Alison (Kroll) George and husband Andrew and Andrew Kroll and his friend, Erica; two great grandchildren, Jaxson Kroll and Eva George. Joe is also survived by his sister, Johanna Stowell and husband Richard; step-sister, Helen Potter and husband Leigh, and a step-brother, Charles Dekanek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 11:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St. Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500 with Sister Mary Jo Tallman, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of the services at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
