Jon (Jack) W. Putman

St. Johnsville – Jon “Jack” W. Putman, 81, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Albany Stratton VA Hospital.

Born on January 5, 1945, in Little Falls, he was the son of the late Warren and Marguerite (Fiacco) Putman and was educated in St. Johnsville schools. Known to many as Jack, and to his friends as Put, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966.

Jack and Lorraine Snyder built a life together over 25 years, marrying on October 16, 2015, in Oppenheim, NY

Jack began his career as parts manager at the former Robert C. Failing Ford in St. Johnsville. He later worked in the maintenance department at the Walmart Distribution Center in Johnstown and finished his working years as a school bus driver for the OESJ Central School District.

Jack had a lifelong love of dirt racing, proudly sponsoring a Hoffman Racing car and sharing countless nights at the track with friends who loved the sport as much as he did.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine; his children, Jacquelyn Schaffer (Shane), Jennifer Scripter, and Michael Putman; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Hayes (Ron) and Jessica Sawyer (William); his grandchildren Madeline, Grace, Eric, Hannah, Alex, Lorraine, and Eva; his sister, Lora Mosher; his brother, Michael Putman; several nieces and nephews; and his loyal canine companion, Ginger.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lorraine Putman; his sister, Mary Lou Donohue; and grandson, Julian Schaffer.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the guidance of the locally owned and family operated Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
