St. Johnsville - Joan Ruth Capece, 87, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2020 at the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls, NY with her loving family at her side following a three month battle with cancer.
Joan was born February 17, 1933 in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Clara C. (Kraft) Bolster.
Joan grew up in St. Johnsville where she met her husband Joseph D. Capece. They were married on April 4, 1953 and spent 58 years together. They enjoyed traveling and seeing the country and were able to spend many years traveling.
Joan along with her husband Joseph, moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia in 1984 and resided there for 19 years. In 2011 after Joseph's passing Joan moved back to her home in St. Johnsville, where she remained until her passing.
Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family and her beloved dogs, Rambo and Sammy. Joan was also an accomplished seamstress and has left her family many of her creations which will be cherished for many years. She will be greatly missed by her family and will always remain in our hearts.
Joan is survived by her two daughters, Wendy (Glen) Blanchard of St. Johnsville, and Robin (Clifford) Heroth of Naples, Florida; five grandchildren, Jamie Laraway (Chad Vedder) of Stratford, NY, Jenni (Edward) Rachon of St. Johnsville, Vanessa (Peter) Dowd of Naples, Florida, Valerie Heroth (Kevin Looman) of Canton, Ohio and Clifford Heroth (Gina Shine) of Clearwater, Florida; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Roy Bolster.
In keeping with her wishes a graveside service at West St. Johnsville Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of her loving family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040.
