Jennie K. Yuchniewicz

PALATINE BRIDGE - Jennie K. Yuchniewicz, 93, a long time Canajoharie resident, passed away peacefully at the Palatine Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

The daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Chmielewski) Yuchniewicz, Jennie was born on March 24, 1927 in Middleville, NY. She was a graduate of Oppenheim-Ephratah High School, class of 1945, and a graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam. 

Miss Yuchniewicz was an elementary school teacher for the Canajoharie Central School District.  Many of her second grade students will remember her with fondness. 

Jennie was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church in Fort Plain, its Altar Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America.  She delighted in traveling throughout the United States and Europe.  Jennie liked singing with local choral groups.  In retirement, Jennie was a member of the St. Johnsville Senior Saints and Canajoharie Seniors. She enjoyed attending meetings and traveling with those groups. 

Jennie was a loving and caring aunt and friend.  Survivors include her nieces and nephews; Wanda Zinski, Florence Jarvis, Diane Schmidt, James Yuchniewicz and Andrew Iannotti; and several grandnieces and grandnephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her sisters, Wanda Yuchniewicz and Mary Iannotti, and a brother, Lewis Yuchniewicz.

Calling hours for Jennie will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Vincent A. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Church in Fort Plain. Due to the current COVID - 19 restrictions, facemask and social distancing is required. Spring burial will be in the St. Johnsville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hope Church, 119 Reid St., Fort Plain, NY 13339, or to an organization of your choice.
