Jeanne Battisti Obituary

Town of Oppenheim - Jeanne S. Battisti, 74, of St. Johnsville (Town of Oppenheim) was greeted by her angels and released to the Lord peacefully on June 3rd, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was an incredibly special woman who touched the lives of so many people.

Jeanne was the daughter of Floyd C. Snell and Elizabeth Haak, born Feb 26, 1952 in Little Falls, NY. Jeanne married Paul Battisti, the love of her life, in 1970 and shared 55 years of marriage. They had five children, several grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.

Jeanne graduated from St. Johnsville school in 1970 and stayed in the area to raise her family. She continued on to college and graduated from FMCC as a Registered Nurse in 1981. She dedicated her life to nursing and helping others. She worked tirelessly in several capacities including maternity, critical care, emergency medicine and flight nursing.

Jeanne was able to travel around the world doing what she loved and was truly the best in her field. She had an unmatched work ethic and dedication. She met many co-workers and employers in her years of employment who held a special place in her heart and became true friends. She helped to educate and encourage her husband and several siblings, children and other family members to enter the nursing profession, creating a true family of nurses that she was very proud of.

Jeanne and Paul spent much of their time traveling. They were able to see many different areas and live in several places. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and spending time at the casinos. She loved family get togethers on holidays and spending time with family. They have fond memories of times living in Chinle, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, and Reno, NV. But they always returned to this area because of their love for their grandchildren.

Jeanne was selfless and generous, there is nothing she would not do for her children or grandchildren. She was caring and giving, and included many other children and family along the way. She always made sure nobody went without, whether that was providing Christmas to those who couldn't, or moving her children's friends into her house. She was a loving, caring mother to all and her door was always open to anyone in need.

Jeanne was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, Beth Ann Battisti, her mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Richard Haak, her father, Floyd C. Snell, her sister, Fay (Snell) Przestrzelski, and a niece, Jessica Eckert, who held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Paul F. Battisti, siblings, Robin Foster, Tracy Haak, Richard Haak, Chris Snell (Colleen), Glenda Snell Johnson (EP), Toni Jane Snell, and Frances Granger (Rick), her daughters, Paula Sutton (Gio), Janis Battisti (AJ), and sons, Paul D. Battisti, Jeffrey Battisti, step-mother, Glenna Snell, grandchildren, Matthew Humphrey, Tyler Sutton, Breanna Frasier (Chad), Kaitlyn Battisti, Cameron Battisti,  Karissa Battisti, Michael Mehaffy, Meranda Battisti, Brandon Battisti, Julie Battisti, Jason Battisti and Jared Bentz, as well as several great-grandchildren who were the absolute light of her life. Also surviving is her lifelong best friend, Mary Lou Sweet, her loving dog Lily, her cat, Asia, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members who were incredibly special to her.
