Jean Shearer Snyder of Herkimer, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her eternal home on December 25, 2025.

Jean was born in Herkimer on August 27, 1936, to Thomas and Ethel Shearer. She attended Oswego State Teachers College to obtain a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and she spent many years as a kindergarten teacher in the Herkimer school district. Jean also worked tirelessly in her local church as a Sunday school teacher, and in missions work.

She was predeceased by her siblings Thomas, Margaret, James, Clarice, and Marilyn.

 She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Clark Vernon; two daughters, Marilyn (David) Leahy and Martha (Joel) DeGarmo; six grandsons, John (Chelsea), Ben (Rain), Thomas, William, Charles, and Andrew Leahy; and two great grandsons, Timothy and Thomas Leahy.

 A funeral service for Jean will be held at Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 W. German St., Herkimer, NY on January 2, 2026 with calling hours from 10-11am, followed by the service at 11am. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the locally owned and family operated, Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the Free Methodist Church World Mission, c/o Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 W. German St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the church.
