Richfield Springs, NY - Jean K. Congdon 79, of State Route 28, (Town of Columbia), passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
She was born on October 22, 1944, in Cooperstown, NY the daughter of the late Charles F. and Elsie Mae (Cardarelli) Mang and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.
Jean was married to Leland Congdon. At one time she was married to David J. Cool who preceded her in death. She was also at one time married to Lazlo Duh who preceded her in death.
Her involvement with the up bringing of the younger generation made her career of being a care giver and nanny for many families throughout the Mohawk Valley.
Survivors include her husband, Leland; sons, Troy Cool of Herkimer, and Dana Cool and wife Linda of Herkimer; a sister, Barbara Strignano; a brother, Allan Mang and fiancée Sue; a grandson, Ryan Pavlot and wife Tina; her step-children; Dennis L. Congdon and wife, Teresa, of Locust Grove, Virginia, Mary E. Hall and husband, Don, of Dolgeville, NY, Steven B. Congdon and partner, Noreen Reff of Canajoharie, NY, Phillip C. Congdon and partner, Diana Mosher of Dolgeville, NY, Frederick A. Congdon and wife, Cindi of Kaneohe, HI, 22 step-grandchildren and 47 step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was loved and will be greatly missed!
She was pre-deceased by a sister, Phyllis, brother, Dennis, brother-in-law, Richard Strignano and a grandson, Cory Pavlot.
In keeping with Jean's wishes, graveside at Dolgeville Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
