Jason L. Kast

Ilion - Jason L. Kast, of Ilion (Town of Columbia) passed away peacefully from natural causes  on his 44th birthday, August 20, 2021.

 He was born August 20, 1977 in Ilion, the son of the late Jack and Maureen (Woods) Kast. Jason was a graduate of Mohawk High School, class of 1997.

 Jason was last employed in the Maintenance Department of  Vernon Downs Casino in Vernon, NY. 

Jason was a devoted family man, he was a loving and caring father, grandson and brother. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He was an avid classic car enthusiast. In his leisure, Jason enjoyed watching football. 

Survivors include his maternal grandmother, Eleanor Woods of Whitesboro; his son, Jordan Kast; his son's mother, Jessica Scharp; his sister, Erin Lasher and her husband Brant of Ilion; a nephew, Anderson Lasher; an aunt, Cheryl Kast; an uncle, William Woods and his wife Cheryl; and many cousins. 

He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather; William Wood; paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Esther Kast; his aunts, Suzanne Zammiello, Sharon Jaquish and Sandy McCarthy. 

Graveside services will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY.
