James P. Tomei

James P. Tomei age 60, of Little Falls NY passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY.

Jim was born on August 1, 1958, in Little Falls, NY, the son of the late Frank J. (Masle) Tomei and Maryellen Colwell Tomei.

In June of 1977, Jim graduated from the Little Falls High School and enlisted in The United States Navy, completing boot camp training for Aviation Structural Mechanics (AME) in Great Lakes, Illinois. He then was stationed at The LeMoore Naval Air Station in California. During his military career he admirably served two tours of duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean.

Upon completion in the Navy, Jim's career path took him to carpentry and painting work. He worked for various contractors and spent a number of years working on the road where it led him to Secaucus, NJ and he met his beloved Helen Cabo. Jim and Helen remained in Secaucus for a number of years before relocating back to Little Falls in 2013.

Jim is survived by his brother Jay F. Tomei and wife Pam of Little Falls, his sister Elaine M. Enea and husband Vincent of Herkimer & his brother Frank J. Tomei and wife Candace of Little Falls. In addition, he leaves an Aunt Jeanne & Uncle William Murphy and Aunt Jeanette Clapper, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 He was pre-deceased by his beloved Helen, a brother Ronald J. Tomei, a sister, Janet E. Tomei and a nephew, Anthony M. Enea.

Jim was a proud member of Sons of The American Legion.

A memorial service for Jim will be held on Friday March 8, 2019 at 7:00 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500 with full military honors accorded. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday March 8, 2019 from 6:00 pm until the time of the services at 7:00 pm. Burial will take place in the  spring at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY when the time and date will be announced.
