Mohawk - James W. "Jim" Gay, 70, of Mohawk, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Little Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born May 6, 1950 in Ilion, NY the son of the late Lloyd M. and Mary (Teletnick) Gay and was a graduate of Little Falls High School, class of 1968.
His marriage to Donna M. Sanders took place on July 5, 1968 in Halifax, North Carolina.
In 1970, Jim started the Valley View Pumps and Drilling Co. which he owned and operated until his retirement.
Jim was a member of the New Life Church in Herkimer.
He was a man devoted to his family, and always put the needs and concerns of his loved ones first. Jim was intrigued by anything mechanical and took the time to figure out how things worked and was able to repair almost everything.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Donna; a daughter, Mary Terry of Ilion; a son, Gary Gay and wife Rachel of Little Falls; five grandchildren, Briana Terry, Shayna Terry, Jayden Manley, Sarah Phillips and husband Mace, and Gary J., Gay and wife Lauren; three great grandchildren, Mace, Grayson and Henry; two sisters, Connie Dunham and Carol Gay both of Ilion; a daughter-in-law, Heather Gay and a brother- in-law, Stanley Cook.
He was pre-deceased by a son, Wayne Gay on May 22, 2011 and a sister, Cheryl Cook on June 29, 2015.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at New Life Church, 337 Protection Ave., Herkimer, NY. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday April 8, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of the services at 11:00 am. Due to the current COVID - 19 restrictions, facemask and social distancing is required. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY. IN lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.
